# Protectorate: Design Document

## Plot
Thirty years after the discovery of an arid continent, thousands of mercenaries and researchers voyage there from the charted world under incentives set forth by their homeland's aging King to uncover what is causing everything on desolute dunes of Seersands to live indefinitely.
Alongside settlements established along the Northern coasts of Seersands by the Mercenaries, evidence exists of margically advanced civilization that disappeared long ago.
The player character is one of many colonists that have arrived via boat under incentives put forth by the king to uncover valuable and useful relics to aid in protection and development of the kingdom.
## Setting
The desert continent of Seersands is a harsh landscape with immense rain scarcity, resulting in much of the terrain being eroded to sand. What little flora that grows does so mostly deep underground, with deep-roots dense material, and high heat resistance being common features of the plantlife.
